Чтобы успешно написать высказывание с элементами рассуждения следует:
— строить высказывания в соответствии с предложенным планом;
— начинать введение с общего представления темы и предложения, отображающего ее проблемный характер;
— во введении необходимо перефразировать тему/проблему, используя синонимичные выражения;
— в основной части сначала высказать свое мнение и аргументировать его, затем представить точки зрения других людей и дать аргументацию, почему с ними не согласны;
— приводя контраргументы, отстаивая свою точку зрения, желательно использовать перифраз, синонимию;
— в заключительном абзаце еще раз указать на проблемный характер темы, показать, что вы способны видеть и другие точки зрения, тем не менее ваша кажется вам более убедительной;
— делить текст на абзацы, которые отражают содержательную и логическую структуру текста;
— сделать введение и заключение приблизительно одинаковыми по объему;
— разбить основную часть как минимум на два абзаца, приблизительно одинаковых по размеру;
-следить за тем, чтобы общий объем основной части был не меньше общего объема введения и заключения;
— особое внимание уделять средствам логической связи текста, как внутри предложения, так и между предложениями.
После выполнения задания уделите внимание проверке и подсчету количества слов (должно быть 200—250 слов).

Nowadays learning foreign languages is very popular. It is a hobby for millions of people who want to be successful and happy. However, is learning languages worth spending so much time and effort on?
As for me, I think learning languages has many advantages. To begin with, it helps travel around the world and communicate with people from different nations. Furthermore, the people who speak more than one language are likely to get a higher-paid job than those who do not have foreign language skills. Finally, learning languages improves one’s memory and broaden mind.
On the other hand, some people think that learning foreign languages is a waste of time and money. In their mind, foreign language skills are not necessary either in travelling abroad or in getting a good job.
I cannot agree with these people. Knowing at least one foreign language is a must for everybody who wants to make a good career and gain success because technological advances such as the Internet, cellular phones, computers improved the way different countries cooperate and conduct business.
To sum up, I would say that learning foreign languages is very important. Not only is it a great way to spend time and relax, but it also can easily help become successful and make a good career.

Task 4. Imagine that you are doing a project “Foreign languages in our life” together with your friend. You have found some illustrations and want to share the news. Leave a voice message to your friend. In 2.5 minutes be ready to tell the friend about the photos:

say in what way the pictures are different, justifying the choice of the photos for the project;

mention the advantages and disadvantages (1–2) of studying foreign languages;

express your opinion on the subject of the project – what role foreign languages play in your life?
You will speak for not more than 3 minutes (2–3 sentences for every item of the plan, 12–15 sentences total). You have to talk continuously.
The first photo shows several people sitting at a table and wearing headphones. They are probably taking part in some international negotiations and listening to an interpreter while discussing some issue.
The second photo depicts two young girls on a holiday. They are holding backpacks, a guide map and a camera. They seem to have found some attraction with the help of the map, and one of the girls is taking pictures.
The most obvious difference is that in the first photo, the people are dealing with a foreign language at work, while in the second one, the women might be using it during a trip to read a guide map.
So, these pictures are perfect for our project as they show that knowledge of foreign languages can be useful in different spheres of life.
What is good about learning foreign languages is that knowing more than one language opens up your vacation destination possibilities. Traveling through a foreign country becomes much easier if you can speak the language of that country. At the same time, its drawback is that learning a foreign language is challenging. Many languages have different systems of grammar, and some languages use a completely different alphabet and different sounds.
Personally, I think knowing a foreign language is really important in my life because it makes me a more educated person. It can also give me a lot of opportunities in the future career and everyday life.

Вначале по теме «Foreign Languages» сформулированы вопросы, затем представлены примерные ответы.
Готовясь к экзамену по английскому языку в 9 классе, ученик может отобрать и использовать из представленного материала то, что подходит именно ему при повторении этой разговорной темы.
TOPIC: FOREIGN LANGUAGES
You are going to give a talk about foreign languages . You will have to start in 1.5 minutes and speak for not more than 2 minutes (10-12 sentences). You have to talk continuously.
Question 1. Why do many young people learn foreign languages?
The modern world is becoming smaller all the time. Every day distances between different countries seem less. That’s why it’s becoming more and more important to know different languages.
Some young people learn languages for their studies, others for travelling abroad and for some teens studying a language is simply a hobby.
English has become the standard language for all kinds of communication.
If you are fluent in a foreign language you feel more comfortable. You can learn more and you will have access to a wider range of jobs and occupations in the future.
Question 2. How can people improve their language skills?
Undoubtedly, learning a foreign language is difficult. So to succeed in it people must work very hard and follow some rules. It’s a good idea to practise pronunciation, revise vocabulary, grammar and spelling. The more we read, the better our reading skills will improve. Listening to native speakers, all kinds of songs and watching original films can help in mastering a foreign language too. Going online, language learners have a chance to speak to people from around the world. It’s a wonderful way to develop a good command of a foreign language.
Question 3. What foreign languages would you like to learn? Why?
As for me, I’d like to learn English because it’ll give me the skills I need to succeed at university and beyond.
Moreover, there are many different ways to use it. I can read English books in the original as well as newspapers and magazines and understand films in English without any help.
When I go abroad, I talk to people from different countries and understand their culture and traditions. Speaking English I can travel everywhere.
To sum up, when you can speak another language your world becomes bigger, richer and more inspiring.

Imagine that you are doing a project on ways of learning a foreign language in Zetland. You have found some data on the subject-the results of the opinion polls (see the diagram below)
Comment on the data in the table and give your opinion on the subject of the project.
Write 200-250 words

- make an opening statement on the subject of the project
- select and report 2-3 facts
- make 1-2 comparisons where relevant
- outline a problem that can arise with learning a foreign language and suggest a way of solving it
- conclude by giving your opinion on the importance of speaking a foreign language.
Recent studies show that fireign languages are becoming more and more popular. To learn more about it, I have found some information on what what ways of learning foreign languages are used by people in Zetland. As a part of my project, I have analyzed these data and come across some interesting findings.
According to the data I have found in the diagram, humans in Zetland have a lot of ways to study foreign languages. The majority of the respondents prefer attending a course or working with a tutor (51%) whereas writing a penpal in a foreign language is the least popular method (1%). Listening to music is also quite popular among people in Zetland, making up 26% of the respondents respectively.
It is noticeable that there is a substantial difference between the most and the least favored ways of studying foreign languages, Attending a course or working with a tutor is at 50 times more popular than writing a penpal in a foreign language. The difference between people who prefer watching films in a foreign language and chatting with international friends is also considerable. It is less than 5% which is surprising because both of these approaches are not favored by humans in Zetland.
Although there are a lot of tricks of studying foreign languages, people can come across some problems learning them. For example, people do not have enough practice of speaking. The best solution is to find a native speaker to talk to every day.
In conclusion, I firmly believe that languages are essential for people because it gives more opportunities for finding a well-paid job and visiting other countries.

Learning foreign languages is becoming more and more popular nowadays. A number of language schools and teachers is constantly growing up. But there are some people think that learning foreign languages is a waste of time and money.
In my opinion, learning languages is extremely important for a number of reasons. Firstly, it is impossible to make a successful career without knowing a foreign language, especially English. If you do not master this language, you cannot be up-to-date, establish business contacts, and carry on talks with your foreign partners. Secondly, foreign languages help you understand native people when travelling abroad. However, there are some people who believe that it is not necessary to learn languages. Their reason is that you can always find a translator or interpreter who will do the job. Nevertheless, I cannot agree with these people because you will fall short of money to buy services of translation or interpretation every day. You had better to be able to do it yourself. In addition to it, the more languages you know the more you rise in your self-esteem.
In conclusion I would like to emphasize the fact that languages have a wide range of application, from everyday life to special purposes. Profound knowledge of languages opens up opportunities and provide advantages in professional field.

Learning foreign languages is not easy at all, especially for adults. It is easy to perceive language and to acquire new information when we are young; however, we sometimes are forced to learn a new language for business or school purpose.
When you learn a foreign language, you should develop all your skills. You should study grammar, do exercises, read texts and even books, listen to the speech of native speakers, speak and do writing tasks. It is essential not to concentrate only on some aspects and ignore others.
Studying grammar and doing exercises on vocabulary may be boring and difficult at the same time. You may lose an interest to them very quickly. That’s why you should vary your studies. Nowadays it is much easier to do it, as we have the internet connection and the access to many useful resources.
You may start from watching cartoons with subtitles which are not very difficult to understand. When your vocabulary will be broadened, you may turn to movies and series. Eventually, you will be able to feel at ease watching them even without subtitles.
Moreover, you have an opportunity to learn a foreign language with the help of native speakers. And this is not about lessons on Skype. I am talking about modern social networks by means of which you can get in touch with people from other countries and practice their mother tongue chatting or talking with them.
Thuswise, it is possible to learn a foreign language and to make the process exciting and interesting. Train all parts of the language, collaborate with foreigners and share your own knowledge!

Можешь начать с просмотра мультфильмов с субтитрами, так как их не сложно понять. Когда твой словарный запас будет расширен, можешь перейти к фильмам и сериалам. Со временем, ты сможешь чувствовать себя свободно, даже смотря их без субтитров.
Более того, у тебя есть возможность выучить иностранный язык с помощью носителей языка. И речь идет не о занятиях по Скайпу. Я говорю о современных социальных сетях, посредством которых ты можешь связаться с людьми из других стран и потренироваться писать или говорить с ними на их родном языке.
Таким образом, это реально выучить иностранный язык и сделать процесс изучения увлекательным и интересным. Тренируй все области языка, взаимодействуй с иностранцами и делись своими знаниями!
