Some people think that music is a great tool that distracts people from daily routine boredom, whereas others do not agree. They think that art works better.
In my opinion, listening to music changes the focus of listeners from routine chores to the melody. First of all, being distracted by familiar music, helps a person forget about daily routine boredom since a person’s attention cannot be focused on two things simultaneously. For example, if a person is listening to music and feels happy, he or she usually does not pay any attention to the regular things that they are doing. Such dull work can be done almost automatically. Secondly, music is usually relaxing and I would say even therapeutic. For instance, it is a scientific fact that those who listen to music often live longer. Stress that might come from doing daily boring routines becomes neutralized by positive emotions that come from listening to familiar music.
At the same time there are people who think that art distracts a person from daily routine boredom better. When people see a painting, they feel so good that they forget about their duties and focus on its beauty.
I do not agree with the opinion about having a job mentioned above. Art can distract people momentarily from chores and everyday duties but music does it much better since one can listen to it continuously in the background while still doing work.
In conclusion, I would like to say that there are opposing views on this issue. At first sight, music cannot distract a person from their daily routine boredom, but in actual fact it is the best distractor people can have. Thus, I strongly believe that if a person listens to music they will be distracted from their daily routine boredom.

Nowdays a lot of people prefer listening to music in order to keep calm and relax after daily work. At the same time, there are those who think that music puts off from daily routine. Who is right?
Personally, I am sure that there is nothing better than listening to music after hard day. First of all, music helps manage negative emotions such as stress and anxiety. Listeners can feel better after listening some songs. Secondly, listening to music tends people to feel more creative and inspired in things that they are doing such as paiting or cleaning a house. What is more, music unites people. It can give people somethinf to discuss or bring them together.

What is entertainment? There are many definitions of entertainment but I look at it as something which diverts or may distract us from our daily life routine. It helps us relax for periods of time thus forget our worries and cares; our habits and thoughts are interrupted, it rests our minds and nerves, though it can also drain our energies thus exhaust our bodies (Herbert, 2012).
There are multiple forms of entertainment that are in play nowadays that people find a good way to release themselves from the daily life routines.
Entertainment has many forms that are endless but the main agenda is to divulge us from the daily patterns of life .In the resent generation people have been looking for better and easier ways to forge a living in a simpler manner, therefore making recreation or entertainment the most available solution to releasing them from never-ending stress and responsibilities in their daily lives (Herbert, 1946).
Entertainment diverts our thoughts to moments of laxity and less care to our worries and anxieties.
Our worries can either bring our heart and mind to a low or bring us to a high, in a sense that it brings an immeasurable amount of adrenaline or a low to mean laxity of mind and less activity of body. And this immense adrenaline definitely is brought about by sporting activities. Sporting activities make most of the body parts to actively participate therefore making us have the feeling of our existence within. Again in the present times technology has greatly evolved forcing humans to evolve with it. With this aspect involved, we are now encircled by smart phones, internet and all kinds of similar gadgets like television sets and iPods which have a considerable amount of our daily working life and entertainment of which we can’t imagine our entertainment or leisure time without.

Everything that we are involved with at this age in time is all about entertainment as Tony Robbins puts it (Herbert, 2012) . Reading and writing has been a form of entertainment for many people. This is by books, magazines, blogs reading and writing in internet or paper. To the children reading of comics of heroes like Bat man, Super man and many others makes the happy and entertained. Also children as opposed to the adults who write; they find it entertaining to draw patterns and characters on paper.
All this is educative and entertaining at the same time because it moves us from daily patterns of life while we are adding knowledge. Marshall McLuhan say that anyone who tries to make a distinction between education and entertainment doesn’t know a thing about either dance; music and films have found their way into people’s definition of entertainment and recreation (Herbert, 1946).
A huge number of entertainment gadgets presently have to have music or visual images to be considered as items of entertainment. This is the other good way that recreation time can be well utilized. This is found in social joint like pubs, bars, disco etc.
From my perception, our personalities can be defined by how we choose our entertainment activities e.g. If you are into parachuting you might be quite crazy, courageous and also an energetic person. But one who spends hours drawing, he or she might be a shy person, maybe calm and may also you be a patient person. Some entertainment forms may prove illogical e.g. ten people chasing after one ball but all in all each of us is unique in his or her own way thus we have what we like more us compared to other things.
In conclusion entertainment does distract us from daily life routine because it soothes our feelings thus making us happy for we create our own worlds and forget about the rest of the world. Different entertainment activities create a longer period of happiness in turn causing continuous distraction.

Да, я уже писала про эссе, но это такая сложная штука, про которую невозможно рассказать в одной статье. Поэтому решила написать еще одну, чтобы вы точно не сделали ошибок в задании 40 ЕГЭ по английскому языку!
Самое главное
На этой неделе проверила 7 эссе от коллег-учителей. И ни за одно не смогла поставить больше нуля по критерию “Решение коммуникативной задачи”. А это значит, что ученик получит 0 за все сочинение, и – прощайте 14 баллов на экзамене! Чтобы с ним такого не произошло, надо:
- Читать правильные ресурсы. Это – методические материалы с fipi.ru. Все остальные книги и сайты, даже если на них написано “Автор – эксперт и богиня ЕГЭ”, “Рекомендовано ФИПИ” и прочая, могут быть устаревшими и содержать ошибки. Которые в итоге приведут к потере всех возможных баллов.
- Не отступать от темы ни на шаг! Если заголовок “Modern technologies in education are for the good of students” – нельзя писать просто про современные технологии. Или про то, что хорошо для учеников в образовании. Надо именно про связку технологии + образование + ученики.
Или если тема “Childhood is the best time of one’s life” – не описываем хорошие периоды в жизни. В заголовке написано – the best, значит, пишем про зе бест! - Четко и ясно аргументировать точку зрения. Чтобы было понятно даже эксперту после 100500 эссе в конце рабочего дня. Мои ученики спорят: “Так понятно же – современные технологии облегчают distant learning! Зачем прозрачнить прозрачное?” Нет, блин, не понятно! Нужно четко разжевать, что с помощью интернета и компьютера можно учиться на расстоянии и поэтому современные технологии выигрышны для студентов.
- Связать противоположное мнение (3 абзац) и контраргумент к нему (4 абзац). Если написали, что современные технологии не приносят благ, потому что отвлекают от учебы – то в следующем параграфе нельзя просто писать о пользе современных технологий! Надо опровергнуть именно почему они не отвлекают, а помогают.
Как научить писать
Теперь поделюсь с вами тайным знанием о том, как учу детей писать эссе на занятиях.
Этап 1, вводный. Рассказываю общую информацию о сочинении на ЕГЭ, сколько на него отводится времени на экзамене, лимит слов и категории тем на эссе. После даю эссе-пример. Но показываю не готовое, а с перемешанными абзацами, которые ученик сам собирает согласно плану написания сочинения, который представлен в экзаменационном задании.
Этап 2, разбор отдельных частей сочинения. Разбираем эссе “по кусочкам”. Что должно быть в каждом параграфе, и чего там быть вообще не должно. Проходим логику написания аргументов и их “разъяснения” во 2, 3 и 4 абзацах.
Этап 3, анализ. Вместе читаем и обсуждаем критерии и дополнительную схему оценивания сочинения для экспертов. Берём сочинения прошлых лет разбираем согласно критериям. На дом задаю самому оценить парочку.
Этап 4. А здесь уже начинаем писать сами. Первую тему обсуждаем вместе – рисуем mind map и помогаю с синонимами. Проговариваем, что будет в каждом абзаце и как ученик раскроет аргументы. После этого отпускаю с миром.
Этап 5. На следующем уроке вместе разбираем по критериям получившееся сочинение и задаю на дом переписывать его до идеального состояния. Пока этого идеала не будет, ничего не пишем.
И вы понимаете, что все эти этапы очень индивидуальны и занимают с каждым учеником от 1 до 3 уроков, в зависимости от его способностей и умственных сил.
Про темы
Эта фраза очень помогает, когда пишем эссе. Темы сочинения могут попасться легкие, например: “Many people think that it is better to be an only child than to have brothers and sisters”. Две точки зрения уже в ней написаны, ученик спокойно может выбрать ту, которая нравится.
А могут встретиться заковыристые. Например как в демоверсии ЕГЭ 2020: “Education is the most valuable thing for a teenager”. Где ученику нужно самому додумать вторую точку зрения.
Тема становится коварней, если дитятко идет от обратного. То есть, думает, что не образование самое серьезное в его жизни, а друзья, деньги или какие-то аморальные развлечения. Тут скрываются сразу несколько подводных камней:
- Ученик во втором параграфе напишет несколько важных вещей для подростков.
- Забудет про превосходную степень в названии темы и насчет рассуждать просто про “важные вещи”.
- В четвертом абзаце с контраргументом (что образование самое важное) уйдет от темы так далеко, что если забыть про тему и прочитать отдельно 4-ый параграф, покажется, что тема у нас “why friends and family are important for teens” или “why it’s necessary to give a kid enough pocket money”.
Лайфхаки
Малое количество учеников имеют к 11 классу словарный запас, необходимый для безоговорочной победы над этими целями. Поэтому в начале занятий с репетитором их тянет просто забить предложения в онлайн переводчик и списать оттуда готовенькое. Вот это большое no-no, и я с удовольствием била бы их по рукам за такое, но работаю онлайн и могу только взывать к их разуму.
Как прошу учеников работать с синонимами вместо списывания плохого перевода из translate.yandex.
- Можно пользоваться онлайн-тезаурусом (например, isynonym), или просто вбивать в google поисковик запросы вроде “valuable synonym”.
- И чтобы дальше ученик не писал в эссе неподходящий синонимов, например “parents and friends are the most expensive things in my life” или “I’m allergic to pussies”, рассказываю о сайте context.reverso, где можно искать все найденные и переведенные с русского выражения и смотреть, можно ли так вообще сказать и что это будет значить.
- Как вариант, можно вбивать свои фразы в строчку поисковика. И смотреть – есть такое выражение или нет. Это становится понятно еще на этапе ввода слов:
- А если ребенок сомневается – не будет ли стилистической ошибкой употребления слова в сочинении (“guys” или “teens”), то отправляю его на cambridge для отслеживания пометки “informal” возле слова:
Мифы про эссе
Не могу их обойти. Супер-популярная история с началом: “А мне сказали …. “, где дальше подставляем любое слагаемое – учитель в школе, подруга из класса, на вебинаре или курсах и еще какую-то дичь. Если не проверять информацию (на сайте ФИПИ) – получается сломанный телефон. Вот топ мифов про эссе на ЕГЭ, которые я слышала:
- Надо начинать вступление “издалека” – Nowadays lots of people do sports. Или задать риторический вопрос в конце первого абзаца. Или там фразу ни о чем написать, вроде “Let’s discuss this question in more detail”.
Издалека начинать не обязательно, можно сразу “в лоб” – Some people believe bla-bla-bla. However, others state that bla-bla-bla. Если сумеете грамотно перефразировать тему – никто не накажет. С другой стороны, вступление издалека выглядит красиво. Если сможете его хорошо написать – почему бы и нет?
А вот ничего риторического в конце абзаца нельзя. Также, как и let’s. Это будет разговорный стиль и ошибка по критерию “РКЗ”. - Есть тайная зависимость между количеством аргументов “за” и “против”. “Надо обязательно писать 2 аргумента и во втором, и в третьем”. Или: “Если написали 3 аргумента за, то пишем 1 против”. Нет. В плане эссе четко написано – дать 2-3 аргумента во втором абзаце и 1-2 в третьем. Всё, больше никаких заморочек.
- Надо еще раз показать противоречивость проблемы в заключении. Вот так – “Несмотря на то, что гражданка N думает вот так, другая мадам NN думает по-другому”. Вы можете так написать в заключении, если очень хочется, но это не снова не обязаловка. Главное – еще раз заявить о своей точке зрения.
- Нельзя писать фразовые глаголы и идиомы в сочинении, потому что они являются маркерами разговорного языка. Да нет, можно их писать, если они подходят по стилю. А вот если в словаре напротив них стоит пометка “informal” – тогда точно нельзя. Например, фразовый hang out и идиому kick the bucket.

To my way of thinking, music has a great impact on people’s lives. To start with,music helps us to relax and eases anxiety. What is more, people listening to music tend feel more creative in the task they are doing such as writing, painting and cleaning the house. In addition, listening to music one abstracts from the outside world and allows us to forget about one’s troubles.
But there are people who are convinced that music has no ability to effect people’s lives positively. To their mind, some kinds of music makes one’s irritable, evil and nervous. Besides, those who listen to music at high volumes may suffer from hearing less. Thus, listening to music can lead to aggressive behavior.
Undoubtedly, some kinds of music aren’t serious and aren’t able to calm us down. But I believe in good music, such as classical which is able to pull off one’s mind and mental state.
To conclude,I’d like to say that music inspires us and makes us feel happier and more energetic.
