Сегодня мы разберем первый текст «Pierre and Faniry». Он предложен в обновленной версии банка тестовых заданий ФИПИ, но для начала скажем пару слов про сами задания 32-38.
Выполняя их, многие ученики сталкиваются с ситуацией, когда выбирают правильный вариант ответа практически наугад. Они аргументируют это тем, что все слова переводятся одинаково. Да и ответы в конце сборников с тестами также не помогают ученикам понять, почему тот или иной вариант правильный. В результате они зачастую откладывают отработку этого раздела на потом, считая, что вряд ли у них получится подготовиться к этому типу заданий.

Pierre and Faniry
В тексте «Pierre and Faniry», который представлен на сайте ФИПИ, используется старая нумерация A22-A28, как вы можете видеть на изображении. При разборе мы заменили ее на новую A32-A38.
A32. Согласно стратегии выполнения заданий 32-38, которую мы подробно описывали здесь, сначала смотрим на слово после пропуска, так как там часто можно увидеть предложное управление глагола, вторую часть идиомы или устойчивого выражения, а может быть и послелог (вторую часть фразового глагола). Это важно сделать, потому что эти слова после пропуска помогают определить правильный ответ.
He A32 ______ at the island and within two weeks he fell for a local girl called Faniry, or «Desire» in Malagasy.

В нашем предложении после пропуска стоит at, значит правильным ответом будет arrived. Это единственный из предложенных глаголов, имеющих предложное управление at. А33. Идем дальше.

Перед нами одна из самых распространенных цепочек. Разницу между значениями ее слов постоянно проверяют в тестовых заданиях, поэтому рекомендуем ее изучить. Это вы можете сделать здесь, а потренироваться в их использовании вам поможет наш тест.
В данном случае важно посмотреть на слова до пропуска. Тут мы видим love at first … Это устойчивое выражение, которое можно продолжить словом sight. Love at first sight — любовь с первого взгляда.
Ответ: sight
А34. Как и в задании А32, мы снова подбираем глагол, поэтому в первую очередь обращаем внимание на слово после пропуска. Почему? Очень часто у глаголов есть предложное управление или определенные слова, с которыми они сочетаются.
Faniry had no family, but Pierre’s parents came out from France for the wedding, even though they did not strictly A34 ______of it.
- admit
- agree
- approve
- accept
В нашем предложении после пропуска стоит of. Вспоминаем, какой глагол имеет такое управление.
agree with
approve of
admit/ accept не имеют предложных управлений
Ответ очевиден — это approve.
Faniry had no family, but Pierre’s parents came out from France for the wedding, even though they did not strictly approve of it. — У Фэнири не было семьи, но родители Пьера приехали из Франции на свадьбу несмотря на то, что они ее абсолютно не одобряли.

А35. Для начала посмотрим на предложение.

После пропуска мы не видим предлога, значит в данном случае подбираем глагол по смыслу. Давайте вспомним перевод предложенных глаголов.
attain — достигать, добиться
attend — присутствовать
appear — появляться
apply — применять, использовать, подать заявление о приеме на работу apply for a job.
Со словом the funeral сочетается attend. Appear не подойдет, так как после него обычно стоит предлог in (appear in – появиться в каком-то месте), которого в нашем случае нет.
Ответ: attend
А36. Перейдем к следующему предложению.
Pierre was grief-stricken, but with Faniry he A36 ______ down to running the vineyard.
- stayed
- lodged
- dwelled
- settled
После пропуска стоит послелог down to, значит мы ищем первую часть фразового глагола. Lodge и dwell не являются фразовыми, поэтому исключаем их.
Stay может быть фразовым, но нет такого сочетания как stay down to.
Запомните следующие устойчивые выражения со stay:
stay at home — оставаться дома
stay away from — держаться подальше от
stay in — оставаться дома
stay out — отсутствовать
stay up — не ложиться спать
И остается settle down to – приниматься за. Он и будет правильным ответом.
Ответ: settle down
А37. Давайте посмотрим на предложение, пропуск в котором предстоит заполнить.
Pierre thought he had married an angel, but soon he found A37 ______ that he was wrong.

Ищем послелог для фразового глагола. Здесь важно подбирать по смыслу, поэтому читаем предложение с самого начала.
Pierre thought he had married an angel, but soon he found out that he was wrong. — Пьер думал, что женился на ангеле, но вскоре обнаружил, что ошибался.
Такое значение приобретает глагол find рядом с out. С другими послелогами он не сочетается.
Ответ: out
А38. Осталось последнее задание. Давайте внимательно посмотрим на слова после пропуска. Там прячутся слова, которые подсказывают правильный вариант ответа.
He had A38 ______ a fatal mistake in marrying Faniry.
- done
- set
- made
- put
Перед нами устойчивое выражение make a mistake – совершить ошибку. Его нужно запомнить. Среди предложенных вариантов: done, set, made, put выбираем вариант 3 — made.
He had made a fatal mistake in marrying Faniry. — Он совершил роковую ошибку, женившись на Фэнири.
Ответ: made
